 "60th" REUNION: Class of 1965 REUNION PROJECT

Classmates of 1965, in September 2025, we celebrated our special "60th Reunion!" How exciting! We enjoyed sharing updates and spent time reflecting on those we lost during past years. I have received a message from Randy Johnston concerning the proposed Class of 1965 PHS Scholarship Fund donation by members of the Class of 1965. Please read Randy's note shared here. FROM RANDY JOHNSTON RE: PHS65 CONTRIBUTION TO THE SCHOLARSHIP FUND FOR PHS GRADUATE STUDENTS:

Randy Johnston has shared this with me. At our September 2025 PHS65 60^th Reunion, he suggested that members of our class contribute to a combined PHS65 Scholarship for a PHS student. Here is what Randy has learned so far. If you have any ideas as to how we can get this project going and completed, please contact Randy. There seems to be a hiccup in communication with the Scholarship Fund personnel. Maybe you have some suggestions so we can follow through with this goal.

Please look over Randy Johnston’s update. Share any ideas you have to make this project run smoothly. It mystifies me that trying to donate money to such a worth cause is proving to be a challenge.

Here is what Randy has learned so far. 

Classmates:

            Well, what a cluster! I am so sorry. I turned a list of all of you who generously offered to donate to a Class of 65 Scholarship. Someone dropped the ball. The school says they sent the list to this organization in Canyon that administers scholarships for the school now. This organization was supposed to get in touch with me. No one did. The organization says they didn’t get the list, so they never contacted me or any of you to collect the money you generously offered to donate. And as a result, some deserving, but never selected, student at PHS is the one that suffer. I’m sorry.

            I am not sure what to do from here. Pretty discouraged, to be honest. If y’all still want to fund a scholarship for next year, let me know. Apparently this organization will collect the money and set the criteria and review the applications and select the winner.

            I welcome your thoughts.
