Elvia Janelle Hibbs Chapin (1947-1983)

Elvia Janelle Hibbs Chapin was born on August 15, 1947 in Floydada, TX  to Alvin Hoyt Hibbs & Nellie Elma Easley. She married Daniel Gordon Chapin and they had two sons Craig Chaplin and Rodney Daniel Chapin

Pampa, TX.MONDAY June 13, 1983 Three killed in Panhandle plane crash PAMPA (API — Federal investigators today were to begin sifting through the wreckage of a single-engine plane which crashed in a wheat field here, killing a couple and their teen-age son. Pampa real estate developer Dan Chapin. 37, his wife Janell. 35, and their son Rodney, 16, were pronounced dead at the scene Sunday by Peace Justice Mildred Cunningham. The trio died on impact, she said. Federal Aviation Administration investigators said the Cessna 206 apparently crashed between 11:15 p.m. Saturday and 1:05 a.m. Sunday, since two watches found at the scene had stopped at those two times.

Shirley Dunagan (Baldwin)

Janelle and Dan had an older son, Craig, who was not with them the day of the crash.  I attempted to stay in touch with him but never received a response.

Janelle had been a dear friend since 7th grade.  She had the most terrific sense of humor and a wonderful, contagious laugh.
